“fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10
It is OK for us to not always feel good. That is fine. As part of being human, we experience stress, discomfort, and even demotivation and discouragement. Likewise, this is normal. That is expected. And at these moments, all we need is a quality rest, some comfort food, a relaxing routine, and at times, words of support.
Sometimes, everything is going well until a difficulty arises and we find ourselves in the midst of chaos. Then we will feel fearful and lost, and our faith will be called into doubt. Although it may be one of the biggest challenges, it is at these times that we must maintain our faith, pray, and have trust that it will pass.
In the midst of life’s surprises, God tells us to place our complete trust in Him (Proverbs 3:5–6) and not give up hope (2 Corinthians 4:16).
God provides his most difficult trials to his strongest and most courageous individuals. Therefore, anytime you find yourself in this circumstance, God knows you are able to confront these trials and win these fights. You are the favored fighter of God, His tough warrior, and the difficulties you may be facing is not intended to put you to your knees but rather to strengthen your bones, make you wiser, and teach you a lesson. You may not understand it now, but as God has promised, you will one day enjoy the rewards of your perseverance (2 Chronicles 15:7).
One of the simple yet impactful teachings in the Bible was told in Luke 18:1–8. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, taught the parable of the persistent widow to highlight the value and blessings of persistence.
Jesus told his disciples this story to teach them to always pray and never lose hope. The widow in the story doesn’t have much power, but she is desperate for justice. And the judge she comes to does not fear God or care what other people think. But she never gave up. The judge in the end gave her justice, so she won’t come back again and bother him.
This story doesn’t have many details. Instead, it is just about a woman who doesn’t lose hope, is very persistent, and won’t give up. The moral of the story is that if an unfair judge can give justice if someone keeps asking, how much more will God do the same?
Sincerely pray to God and hand Him all your worries, fears, and problems. Sometimes, in the most unexpected and hopeless times, God answers your prayer (Matthew 7:7-8).
So pray, be persistent, do not give up, and keep going.
God promised to be on our side and be with us not just when things were going well, but especially when things were hard. He sent his only son, who has the power to stop a storm and control the winds and waves for us (Mark 4:35–41, Matthew 8:23–27).
Romans 8:31 highlights, “If God is for us, who can be against us?”. This is confirmation that God loves those who believe in Him, as long as they don’t give up on Him when things don’t go their way.
So get up, keep moving, and be His living testimony of conquering adversity.
Resilience emerges from the realization that God is always on our side and that the challenges we face are for our own gain and His glory.
You are not alone in this battle.
You are not the only one experiencing life’s struggles.
You’ll be fine. You are strong. You can make it. You are loved.
